Graus and Buddhism
Two things that seem to have little to do with each other. Or do they?
Graus is a town in the foothills of the Pyrenees, with a beautiful Plaza Mayor, charming narrow streets and an ancient basilica. Along with the statue of Christ above the city worth a visit.
All this seems pretty Spanish, but you might just encounter a Tibetan monk in Graus, because near Graus a Buddhist monastery is located. Built by monks in exile in a place reminiscent of the homeland, this is now a place of pilgrimage that is visited by day trippers and guests in retreat. See the pictures for an impression.
Graus is not far from Sobrarbe, and not at all when the path is your goal. We have worked out a beautiful tour that leads you to Graus and the monastery along some beautiful villages.
