3 in 1: bears, caves, chapels

Cave bears, a cave and ancient chapels ...
Tella, a small mountain village at a spectacular location. We have created a combination of different activities in and around this village.
First a visit to the museum in the village. An impressive 3 meter high skeleton of an ‘Oso Cavernario’ (cave bear in English) looks down on you when you enter the museum. A giant from the Ice Age that used to live here…
After the museum you can visit the "Cueva de los Osos', the cave with its entrance located at 1600 meters altitude. In this cave as many as 4,000 bones of 36 different bears were found, the bears hibernated in the cave about 20,000 years ago.
The visit to the cave is under supervision and with explanations of a guide. It has to be booked in advance.
After visiting the cave, it's time for a beautiful walk that starts from the village; It’s about an hour and takes you along three beautiful ancient chapels. Since Tella is situated close to the peak of a mountain, you walk around this peak, and have great views. You'll often see vultures circling next to you and above you. (See our excursion: spotting vultures)
In Tella there’s no restaurant, so we recommend that you take a picnic-lunch with you so you can make a nice day of it.
On the way back you can take a look at the ‘Dolmen de Tella’..
It is located within minutes of the village and at a very picturesque location.
This is an excursion without guidance, entrees to be paid:
Adults 10 euros, children up to 12 jaar 5 euros, children under 6 jaar free.
